Dr. Anna Borissow is the owner and founder of Advanced Neuromuscular Physiotherapy. Dr. Borissow is a licensed physical therapist who specializes in the treatment of chronic pain and various orthopedic and soft tissue dysfunctions.

Dr. Borissow earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Neurophysiology and Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1999. She went on to receive her Master in Physical Therapy in 2003 and her Doctor in Physical Therapy in 2006 from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Borissow has been treating patients in the Washington Area for over 15 years.

Dr. Borissow is well respected in the area for providing high quality patient care. Her approach to treatment is patient centered. She provides thorough musculoskeletal evaluations as well as a caring and skillfull treatment protocol, that will ensure a speedy recovery, even for the most difficult case.

She utilizes a manual based approach to patient care. She has extensive knowledge in osteopathic manipulations of all extremities, massage therapy techniques, myofascial release, PNF training, dry needling for trigger points, as well as creating appropriate exercise programs. Her on-going desire for learning and commitment in providing the best care for the patient, provides the client with the highest quality of care.

Dr. Marley Lefelar is a licensed physical therapist in the State of Maryland. Dr. Lefelar earned her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology from the University of Delaware in 2013. She then went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from MCPHS University in 2016. While attending MCPHS University, Marley was awarded into the Physical Therapy Pro Bono National Honor Society for providing underserved populations with quality physical therapy care.

Through her experience, Dr. Lefelar has obtained skills that combine manual therapy and functional training to help return patients to their optimal level of performance. Marley has a special interest in treating those with chronic pain conditions and is also knowledgeable in sports-specific training. Marley utilizes an individualized approach to patient care so that clients are able to maximize their outcomes. Marley is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and is dedicated to evidence-based practice.

Marley's future career goals include earning additional clinical certifications in manual therapy techniques such as instrument assisted soft tissue massage (IASTM) and active release techniques (ART).

Marley grew up locally in North Potomac and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, staying active, and riding horses.

Christine Kiang, DPT

Dr. Christine Kiang is a licensed physical therapist in the State of Maryland. Dr. Kiang received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Marymount University in 2008. In 2012, Dr. Kiang received her advanced Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy certification which focuses on osteokinematic and arthrokinematic joint corrections and in 2018 Dr. Kiang became a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist certification in Dry Needling.

Dr. Kiang is a specialist in manual therapy and functional movement training and is committed to providing a holistic approach in treating Sports, Orthopedic and Neuromuscular conditions with an emphasis on correcting and improving mechanical faults and movement patterns in individuals with acute and chronic pain conditions.

Dr. Kiang was born and raised in the Washington D.C./Metro Area. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and hiking. She is passionate about advancing the field of physical therapy and helping people improve their quality life.

Raymond Butts, PhD, DPT

Raymond Butts, PhD, DPT

Dr. Butts graduated with honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Human Factors Engineering and served as a 1st Armored Division Army officer in Bosnia-Kosovo and Iraq. He also received a post-graduate, International Masters of Neuroscience from the University of Tubingen, Germany, where he investigated central mediated aspects of chronic pain with magnetoencephalography and fMRI. In addition, Dr. Butts completed a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Doctorate of Philosophy in motor rehabilitation from the University of South Carolina. His PhD thesis explored the use of transcranial magnetic and direct current stimulation to disinhibit the motor cortex and facilitate plasticity-dependent, motor recovery. He is one of 300 physical therapists in the U.S. to have earned a Diploma in Osteopractic. In 2022, he also became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy, a title earned by only 2% of the physical therapy profession.

Dr. Butts has a strong track record of teaching and research. He has authored or co-authored 28 publications and 31 scholarly BLOG articles on physical therapy topics. Over the course of 15 years, Dr. Butts taught anatomy/physiology and biomechanics to pre-healthcare professionals at Midlands Technical College and the University of South Carolina, respectively, for which he was awarded the distinguished graduate award. He was also an Assistant Professor at Gannon University, where he taught gross anatomy, neuroscience, and advanced orthopedics to Doctor of Physical Therapy graduate students. Over the last 8 years, he coordinated the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical and taught over 250 seminars on spinal manipulation, dry needling, research methodology, cadaver-based anatomy and pain science. He recently presented on evidence-based treatment strategies for pelvic floor dysfunction and headaches at the annual American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Conference and the International PT Conference at Ecole d’Assas Physiotherapy School (Paris, France), respectively.

Dr. Butts has treated patients with orthopaedic and chronic pain conditions since 2008. A recent part of a medical mission that provided care to Armenian soldiers and families ravaged by war, he consistently strives to provide exceptional care and achieve extraordinary, patient-centered outcomes. Dr. Butts is a former competitive rower and has had the unique opportunity to compete in numerous international and world-class rowing championships. He enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment where quality patient care is the standard, and he is excited to be one of the newest members of the Advanced Neuromuscular Physical Therapy.
